Missions

Trinity is actively involved in several mission action opportunities both inside and outside of the church. Missions at Trinity provide opportunities to both give and to receive.

Mission Committee

The emphasis of the Mission Committee of Trinity is to be good stewards on behalf of the Session and the Congregation in the allocation of the monetary resources dedicated to Mission and Outreach programs.

Awareness

We attempt to
  • keep the congregation aware of Presbyterian mission programs,
  • make available mission action opportunities,
  • facilitate individual and group participation in outreach,
  • educate the congregation, and
  • encourage various organizations within the church to develop their own mission projects.

Christian Community Action

We work with CCA in many ways to help others.

Special Offerings

One Great Hour of Sharing at Easter.

The Presbyterian Church (USA) divides our offering three ways:
  • Self-Development of People
  • Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
  • Presbyterian Hunger Program
Through these programs millions of people in need find shelter, food, medicines, tools and education that enables them to take control of their own destinies.

Missions

The Carter Blood Drive bus comes to Trinity about five times a year. This offers our members and the community an easy way to donate blood to help those in need. The Carter Blood Drive bus started coming more than a decade ago.

In the fall we have the Elizabeth Handley Memorial Bone Marrow Registration Drive. This is done in memory of one of our Youth who died from cancer. It was her wish that something be done to help save the lives of other children with cancer.
Since the beginning in December 1994, we have held 76 blood drives; collectively donated 2,078 units of blood and platelets; registered 165 potential bone marrow donors; and possibly saved over 6,192 lives.
So we ask all, anyone who feels inclinded, to become a part of our magic bus group and continue the heritage of saving lives.

Kids Eat Free Program

Kids Eat Free is an incredible community-based Mission program established to provide lunches in the summer for children who participate in subsidized school lunch programs during the calendar school year.

During the summer many of these children "fall through the cracks" in the system and a nutritionally balanced lunch isn't guaranteed. Members of our congregation will work together with CCA and other organizations donating their time and resources this summer to make hundreds of lunches and deliver them to grateful kids in our neighborhood.

The Mission committee will gladly accept volunteer sandwich makers and delivers, so if you can spread peanut butter, call the church office for more details.

As said in Matthew 25:35, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat."
